Case Preparation

Parent Note (Up)

Introduction

The purpose of this section, I suppose is abundantly clear. The crux of the case interview is the case, of course. In this section we shall therefore try to break down what type of cases exist, the segments of a case, and how to tackle each part of each type of case. In addition to this, we will also try to cover some crucial tips and tricks to solving cases in an interview, as well as how you should go about giving cases to friends as a part of your practise. Finally, I will also share here my personal set of frameworks, which I found very useful while solving cases, and have refined over the course of all the cases I have solved.
Please do note however, that this is not a case book. I have only attempted to breakdown the process of case solving and capture some of my learning to solve any type of case. Case books would provide far more cases to use for practise. Thus, I would recommend developing a working understanding of how to solve a case from here, and then extensively using a couple of other sources of cases for practise. Do however intermittently revisit these notes to revise your own learning of how to solve each type of case, and improve upon what you have learned from here.
